Coolest thing I’ve ever owned. Easy to figure out for a beginner on this type of mount. Instructions were very informative. Thanks!!!!!

Questions beginners ask before buying

Is Antares 130/650 a good first telescope?

It can be, especially for an adult beginner or teen who is willing to learn an equatorial mount. It is more involved than the Vega refractors but offers a larger 130mm aperture.

What can I see with a 130mm reflector?

The Moon and bright planets are excellent targets. Under darker skies, the larger aperture also improves the experience of bright star clusters and selected deep-sky objects.

What magnification should I start with?

Begin with the 25mm eyepiece at 26×. Learn to locate, center, focus, and track the target before moving to 100× or adding the 2× Barlow.

Why does the EQ mount take more practice?

An equatorial mount is designed around the motion of the sky rather than simple up/down and left/right pointing. A short practice session at low power makes the movement much easier to understand.

Can I use my phone for photos?

Yes. Use the included smartphone adapter and wireless remote. Start with the Moon because it is bright and easier to center.
